The thing I love most about illustrating textbooks for children is finding and painting the connection between the characters. A lot of textbook illustration involves fairly specific guidelines. Frequently the story line has already been written, and the editors have decided on the style that they want from a portfolio of Illustrators. So the chosen Illustrator has to make the characters come to life within parameters that have already been established and consistently maintain that style of illustration throughout the book. |
